Max Balls began juggling at the age of eighteen in Hamburg, Germany. He found himself immediately drawn to the art and practised at every opportunity. He attended and took part in renowned international juggling festivals held throughout Europe. His hobby helped him through his university studies in Geology, yet upon completing his degree, Max Ball’s passion for juggling took over as he sought to make his hobby a full time pursuit.

After completing his degree, Max Balls came to Australia in 2007 for a working holiday. He immediately begun learning about performance in Fremantle, training at the WA Circus School, and he quickly put these newfound skills to the test busking on the streets of Perth and Fremantle. Max Balls has since famously busked on the streets throughout Australia and New Zealand. Max Balls unexpectedly found love on his travels to Australia and his life took a new direction across the world. As his confidence as a performer increased, Max performed in various shows and cabarets for companies such as the WA Circus School, Bizircus, and Sugar Blue Burlesque, and as a freelance performer at festivals such as the Fremantle festival, the Karridale Western Australian Circus Festival and Fringe World. Max has also conducted juggling workshops in both Germany and Australia. Max Balls became an Australian resident in 2009 when he began performing his juggling act at Circus Joseph Ashton. He continues to perform here and also undertakes other roles on the circus site. As well as juggling at Circus Joseph Ashton, Max Balls also performs alongside contortionist Kimtortion with a unique Rag Doll contortion act. Max Balls additionally performs as a freelance artist at corporate functions.
